The moment it came out, it started noizzzily buzzin’ like a bee. Everyone began asking, “what is this Buzz all about?”

Google Buzz is Google’s latest add-on to Gmail, making your email a messaging tool and also social networking tool as well. Like any other social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), GBuzz’s features include the following:

    • Auto-following. When you follow a contact, that contact would automatically follow you (and vice versa). This gives you a two-way advantage. You don’t only get updates, you will be able to automatically advertise or promote your posts to new contacts.
    • Post links and photos. This feature is one of the major come-ons of social networking sites. Gbuzz allows posting of links to your site and sharing of photos that could give your business a boost, or just show friends what you’ve been up to.
    • Public or Private Sharing. Understandably, considering the global reach of the web, more and more people are concerned about their privacy online. With Google Buzz, you have an option to either have your posts be visible to the public or to choose specific people who may view your post.
    • Supports @reply. This feature allows you to respond to a specific person’s post and automatically sends a buzz to that person’s inbox.
    • Geotags. This is Google Buzz’s key feature for business establishments. When you use Google Buzz through your smart phone, you could add your current location and it will be shown and pinned to Google Maps. This feature is very convenient especially during those times when your company has important functions and you want certain people to know where it’s being held.
    • Integrated in Gmail. Since Google Buzz is integrated in your Gmail account, you can send and receive updates using the same window. There’s no need to open separate tabs or windows, making it easy to follow through some buzzes while checking your mail.

Although it’s not 100% perfect yet, for sure Google is keeping up with the rest of the social networking sites and making our work and personal lives easier to manage. Go ahead! Start buzzing!

Early December, Google announced that their SERPs would now be showing results in real-time. Whatever a person searches through Google, their SERPs would show the latest news and other related blog posts. Users could also view the hottest or commonly viewed topics for easier access. With this, Google tapped social media sites to help them get better real-time search results.
