- Is Facebook Just All About Play? March 30, 2010
This question has been popping up on many a person’s head, especially among the business-minded folks. Is Facebook really just about countless games, quizzes and oftentimes mindboggling apps? Is it just all fun and play? Nothing about serious business? Nothing about online advertising? The answer, of course, is no.
Facebook can facilitate the growth of any business enterprise due mainly to the social media’s fabulous reach. There have been hundreds of small stores and shops that gained popularity through Facebook. On the other hand, household brands have been able to significantly increase their name-recall because of Facebook presence. Truth is, Facebook is arguably the cheapest and most cost-effective, if not totally free, avenue for online advertising. Any type of business can potentially reach its targeted consumer base because… well, let’s face it, practically everybody has a Facebook account.
It is still about smart strategizing, though. You cannot just point your weapon in all directions on Facebook. We should bear in mind that, at the end of the day, people go to Facebook to get something fun. Whatever their concept of fun is. In other words, there is no room for in-your-face advertising on Facebook. Instead, you can inject some sort of personality into your company or business. If you are involved in making candies, you can post anecdotes about being in that kind of business. What inspired you on the particular shapes of the candies? You can also post some trivia regarding the candy makers and their hobbies (just the palatable ones, of course). You can reveal the most popular among your candy products and what is the reason why that is so. These are samples of the kind of posting that people seek to read from a Facebook page. Gradually but surely, you will build top-of-the-mind awareness about your business through subtle online advertising on Facebook.
