• Philippines is UK’s Best for the 2nd Time Posted by admin at 9:11 am in Articles  | November 24, 2009 Print Post

Once again proving its worth as an outsourcing resource, the United Kingdom recently awarded the Philippines as the 2009 Offshoring Destination of the Year in its 4th National Outsourcing Association Awards. The award recognizes companies and individuals that excel as resources for the BPO industry.

The Philippines has bagged the same award twice already, the first time being in 2007. This time it bested Egypt, Malaysia, Russia and Sri Lanka.

Secretary of the Commission on Information and Communications (CICT) Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III congratulated all the sectors that made this award possible, adding that the Philippine outsourcing resources include some of the best-trained and competent professionals in the region.

While India is currently recognized as the world leader in outsourcing services, the Philippines is also well-respected in the BPO Industry. The NOA award is seen to further boost its image as an offshore and outsourcing destination not only in UK but in the rest of the world.

The Philippine government has been very supportive of the BPO industry, seeing it as a major source of employment for its educated professionals. The country’s BPO industry employs around 400,000 workers and has been noted to generate a total of 6.1 billion US dollars in 2008.National and local seminars and conventions have conducted while and schools and universities are encouraged to tie up with outsourcing resources and companies to ensure and secure stability of the BPO industry.

The UK’s NOA represents different outsourcing end users, vendors, and other outsourcing companies or companies who very much support outsourcing. The Awards were established to promote recognition and development of quality outsourcing resources. This year’s awarding was held at the Park Plaza Riverbank in London last October 15.
